Rockstar itself explains on its support page that “While the installed game may appear to be the Special Edition, all Ultimate Edition in-game bonuses and content are associated with your player profile and will be available when Red Dead Redemption Online launches.”
For now, you’ll have to twiddle your thumbs until November and make do with the litany of Special Edition content at your disposal.

However, some may be dealing with a far more pressing issue, insomuch as their Ultimate Edition code is nowhere to be found for certain pieces of content. Users on Reddit are reporting that GameStop in particular has not delivered the goods when it comes to the required codes needed to unlock everything in the Ultimate Edition.
To rectify the situation, it’d be wise to contact the retailer immediately, as well as checking any and all receipts for missing codes, as stores can occasionally print them below your official pre-order as a bonus.
