Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Eye Bar – How to Recharge and Upgrade

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Eye bar plays a huge role in helping players to take out any potential enemies. Activating the function allows you to “paint” your targets in slow motion, which will help you to get headshots and other notable shots. How do you go about refilling your Dead Eye meter, or even upgrading it, though? Here’s our guide on how to do both of these.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Eye Bar – How to Restore

The Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Eye bar automatically restores itself over time. You can use the function until your meter runs out, at which time you won’t be able to use it until a portion of the bar has refilled slightly.

You can make your bar drain much slower by chewing tobacco, but this will only slow down how much you use until the bar is completely drained. Again, once this happens, you won’t be able to use Dead Eye until some of the bar has refilled. To refill the bar you can use cigars, cigarettes, or certain alcohols. Finally, extreme hot or cold temperatures can affect how quickly your bar regenerates, so be aware of when you’re using it in snowy or sunnier climates.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Eye Bar – How to Upgrade

Like other areas of the game, you’ll have the capacity to upgrade your Dead Eye meter throughout Red Dead Redemption 2. You can permanently increase its capacity by gaining experience in the world, such as completing missions in the campaign, finding collectibles scattered throughout the map, crafting items, hunting animals, and more.

As you progress through the story, you’ll unlock the ability to manually highlight targets with the right bumper or R1 button on your Xbox One and PS4 controller respectively. You’ll also be able to remain in Dead Eye mode for multiple shots, as opposed to only being able to fire a single shot when you first get the function early in the game.

You’ll eventually unlock the ability to see one-shot kill spots in this mode too. Red auras will surround the critical hit points on enemies and wildlife to take them out with one bullet, such as their brain or heart. This will let you take them out in one go, and not have to waste ammunition trying to take them down.
