Black Ops 4 Game Won’t Launch – How to Fix

There have been many reported situations that the new Black Ops 4 game won’t launchCall of Duty Black Ops 4 was released globally today, but it seems that some issues that players encountered in last month’s beta are still present in the game. Aside from reports of Black Ops 4 crashing in all online modes except Blackout, it seems that for many players the game won’t start at all.

Black Ops 4 Game Won’t Launch – How to Fix

Reports on Reddit have identified the issue , which went unresolved in the beta despite a thread being posted on the Call of Duty forum. When players attempt to start the game, they receive a prompt asking if they would like to start the game in safe mode. If the player selects yes, the game doesn’t start. If the player then selects no, the game starts, but crashes after about a minute.

A fix was shared on Reddit, but it hasn’t had a 100% success rate. Although it’s definitely worth a try, it may not work. The fix involves the following steps:

  • Press the Windows Key + R.
  • Type “msconfig” and press Enter.
  • Select “Selective Startup” and uncheck Load Startup items.
  • Select the “Services” tab.
  • Check “Hide all Microsoft services.”
  • Click “Disable all.”
  • Click “Apply.”
  • Click “OK.”
  • Click “Restart.”

If the above doesn’t work, players should go to the task manager in order to ensure that software such as “Razer” is turned off, even if they have already exited these programs manually. This is to ensure that the applications have entirely ceased to run.

If none of the above works, players should attempt a clean boot. This will identify other software that could be blocking the game, causing it to crash when launched.

If all of the above fails, players will need to wait for Treyarch to directly rectify the issue. An official fix will likely be released soon if the game continues to crash.
