A mysterious bug is getting players of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey stuck on black screens for unknown reasons. The bug seems to come into play after dying or when attempting to manually load a save file while playing. The screen fades to black, making the game unplayable. Here’s a guide on how to fix the black screen bug in AC Odyssey.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Black Screen – What is it?
The bug makes the screen turn black after the player dies or attempts to load a save file. This results in the game becoming unplayable, which means that the player needs to close the application or turn off their console, losing all of the progress they made since their last save.
While the screen is black, the theme from the loading screens plays. Sometimes, the “loading” icon displays in the bottom-left corner, too. This lasts indefinitely until the player shuts the game down. So, how can you fix this game-breaking bug?
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Black Screen – How to Fix it
If the player chooses to load a save from the Menu option as opposed to selecting the “Reload Last Save” option, the bug doesn’t come into play. However, this doesn’t change the fact that the bug results from some deaths, as well.
For now, although players can load saves manually in the above way without risking the bug coming into play, there is no way to avoid the bug when it results from dying. However, Ubisoft has confirmed that this issue is being investigated, meaning that a solution will likely be provided soon. Until then, players will need to manually load save files from the Menu directly. It is also advised that players save as often as possible in case the bug kicks in after they die, forcing them to restart the application.
