The much-anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3 is due to release on PS4 and Xbox One and PS4 on January 19, 2018. Is there a chance, however, that we’ll ever see a release of Kingdom Hearts 3 Switch one day? We’ll take a look at all of the pros and cons of any such potential port below.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Switch – Is it Coming to Nintendo Switch?
As of writing, Kingdom Hearts 3 is not scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch. Despite this, however, a rumor has begun circulating that Square Enix would like to see a port of the game release on Nintendo’s hybrid machine. According to YouTuber DreamcastGuy, Square Enix is “heavily considering” bringing Kingdom Hearts 3 to Switch. He explains that his source is “from a friend close to Square Enix.” Of course, with any rumors such as this, it’s advised to take them with a pinch of salt.
Kingdom Hearts 3 Switch – Will it Ever Come to Nintendo Switch?
While Square Enix hasn’t given an official word on a potential port, the recent rumor detailed above coupled with Square’s current strong presence on the platform does suggest that it could happen at some stage in the future. Square Enix has released Octopath Traveler, has confirmed Dragon Quest 11 S, and is bringing countless Final Fantasy titles to the hybrid console. It wouldn’t surprise us to see Kingdom Hearts 3 added to that list. Whether that’s in the form of a visually downgraded port, or a streamed version a la Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, is up to Square Enix.
What makes a potential port more likely, too, is that Kingdom Hearts has some history on Nintendo consoles. Chain of Memories, 358/2 Days, and Dream Drop Distance were all released on the GameBoy Advance, DS, and 3DS respectively. While it could be likely, we’ll have to wait on official word from Square Enix one way or another on Kingdom Hearts 3 Switch. Keep those Keyblades crossed.
