Assassin's Creed Odyssey 1.03 Update

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey FPS Performance Fix

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Critics and fans around the world have been praising the game’s scope, gameplay, and story, but it does have one particularly glaring issue. Many people playing the PC version of Ubisoft’s latest sneaky sequel have been complaining about its framerate. Is there an Assassin’s Creed Odyssey FPS fix? How can we make the FPS in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey PC a stable 60 FPS? All is revealed below:

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey FPS Fix – Why Does it Struggle to Run on PC?

While the graphics are incredibly detailed in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, there are plenty of us out there who should have a powerful enough rig to run it at max settings with a nice, stable framerate. Unfortunately, the game’s settings have Multi-Frame Sampled AA (MFAA) turned on as default. This will strangle some PCs, not allowing for a steady 60 FPS. Fullscreen Optimization is turned on as default too. This is the main cause of the widespread stuttering issue on the PC version of Odyssey.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey FPS Fix – How to Fix the FPS

Assassin's Creed Odyssey FPS Fix

There are a number of ways to fix the FPS stuttering issues in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Thanks go to GamePur for the information. Firstly, you’ll want to turn off the MFAA as mentioned above. To do this you’ll need to head into your Nvidia Control Panel, and then click the option to turn MFAA off. If you’re still suffering from an unstable framerate after this, you’ll need to disable Fullscreen Optimization.

Unfortunately, this isn’t quite as simple. There are a few steps here, so bear with us here:

  • Find the directory where you have Odyssey installed
  • Right click on the file named “ACOdyssey.exe”
  • Enter the “Compatability” section
  • Find and check the “Disable Fullscreen Optimization” option. Once done, click “Apply”

Once done, your FPS issues should be resolved. There are further measures to take if not, however. Nvidia users can set the Max Pre-Rendered Frames to one. Open the Nvidia Control Panel, click on “Manage 3D Settings,” open the “Program Settings” tab, and now, pay attention to what we have to say next:

  • Either select Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in the Program Settings tab, or click on “Add”, and add Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Scroll through the long list that follows until you find “Max Pre-Rendered Frames.” Set this to one.
  • Hit “Apply” and exit.

Hopefully going through all this will make your copy of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey run as smooth as butter. AMD users can access similar settings, but unfortunately, you’ll need to perform a registry hack to access them.
