PlayStation Now Download Games: How to Download PS Now Games

Sony has announced that PlayStation Now Download Games are available. This means that many of the titles offered in PS Now will no longer have to be streamed to your PS4. You will be able to download certain titles and play them offline, without worrying about broadband speeds or caps. So how can download PS Now games? Read on and find out.

How to Get PlayStation Now Download Games

The first step in this process is to have a PlayStation Now subscription. You can get the service for $9.99 a month currently, but this is limited to new subscribers and the offer runs only until September 25. Once you have purchased the subscription (or you already have one) proceed to the PlayStation Store, and then to the PlayStation Now sub-menu. From there, navigate to the game details page one of the selected titles that can be downloaded, such as God of War III Remastered.  You will then be able to see the download symbol for the game on the right-hand side, like in the image below. Once installed, the PlayStation Now download games will appear in your library on your PS4 home screen.

There are some restrictions to the PlayStation Now Download Games service, however. The first is that only a select few of the 500 plus games available to stream will be downloadable. Sony’s post announcing the new service states that:

“almost all PS4 games in the service, including Bloodborne, God of War 3 Remastered, NBA 2K16, and Until Dawn, will be available for download, in addition to the PS Now lineup of classic PS2 games remastered for PS4.”

In addition to this, you will not be able to completely play the downloaded games offline. The support page for PS Now says that “you’ll need to connect to PSN every few days to validate your PS Now subscription”, so you need an internet connection available every now and then. Finally, you will not be able to download the games to the PS Now PC app; the PlayStation Now download games function is limited to the PS4.
