NBA 2K Playgrounds 2, the spin-off of the main NBA series, was due to release in May. However, the NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 release date was pushed back as developer Saber Interactive looked to agree a publishing deal with 2K to allow its inclusion in the title. With that deal now in place, when can we expect to see the sequel land on shelves and in online stores?
When Does NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 Launch?
NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is due to release on Tuesday, October 16. The arcade sports game is getting launched five months after it was initially supposed to, but fans won’t have to wait too much longer to get their hands on it. Saber Interactive made the announcement with a brand new trailer that showed it off in its humorous, cartoon-style glory. The final screen of the trailer revealed the NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 release date, in addition to what will be the game’s cover art.
What Is Included in the Game?
The deal between 2K and Saber Interactive allows the latter to make use of the publisher’s licenses, songs, ex-NBA player likeness, and much more. The game will feature better dribbling mechanics, new players and courts to select, and legendary moves from former basketball professionals that let you gain an advantage over the competition.
Saber Interactive chief executive officer Matthew Karch also confirmed to GameSpot, in an interview after the release date was revealed, that four-player online multiplayer would be present in NBA 2K Playgrounds 2. Speaking of online, dedicated servers have also been set up by the development team to ensure that the considerable lag would be a thing of the past. Lag harmed NBA 2K Playgrounds when it originally came out. NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is set to land on the Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch later this fall.
