Halo Infinite Microtransactions: Will Halo Infinite Have Microtransactions?

Halo Infinite is still a good year away from being released, if you believe the rumors. Slated for an apparent Q4 2019 release, the last chapter in 343 Industries’ Halo trilogy seems certain to get back to basics after the maligned Halo 5: Guardians. Not much will change regarding multiplayer cosmetics and other purchasable items, however, especially in the current market of games-as-a-service. Will Halo Infinite have microtransactions, then? Here’s the lowdown on what we know about Halo Infinite microtransactions so far.

Halo Infinite Microtransactions: Will the Game Have Them?

Almost certainly. Microsoft posted a job on their careers website on June 14 – an advertisement that is still up – that requires an Online Experience Design Director (that’s a mouthful) at 343 Industries. If you sift through the advertisement’s jargon, you’ll realise that the job posting requires that individual to be able to design skins, emblems and more – presumably for Halo Infinite microtransactions, among other things.

Now, it could be that some of those cosmetics could be gained through the game’s campaign, winning multiplayer matches, and much more. With the games-as-a-service model still a source of income for videogame developers, however, it can be speculated that Halo Infinite will contain microtransactions to some degree.

Halo Infinite Microtransactions: Job Listing

Requiring the suitable candidate to “possess boundless imagination”, as well as being someone who has “a deep understanding of various business models found in both mobile and AAA games”, there’s a massive indication that Halo Infinite microtransactions will be incoming.

Free-to-play smartphone games, in particular, have a tendency to utilise microtransactions as their main source of income, and this is a model that AAA titles have followed suit over too. With Halo Infinite likely to be played by a ton of people when it does eventually launch, expect Halo Infinite microtransactions to be a hot topic of conversation.
