Pokémon Go Eevee Evolution: How to Evolve Eevee into Espeon or Umbreon in Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go is continuing to strengthen its grip on the smartphone video game world, Fortnite aside that is. Niantic’s Pokémon game has gained plenty of traction with its regular updates, raid battles and legendary Pokémon rotations, and more is expected to come in the near future. One Pokémon you’ll definitely need to complete your collection is Eevee, who can evolve into five different Pokémon. How do you get the Pokémon Go Eevee evolution that guarantees you Espeon or Umbreon though?

Pokémon Go Eevee Evolution: How to Get Espeon or Umbreon in Pokémon Go

To get either the psychic-type Pokémon Espeon or the dark-type Pokémon Umbreon, you’ll need to catch an Eevee first. You shouldn’t have too much trouble locating one – or five for that matter – but once you do, you’ll want to follow these easy steps to earn yourself a Pokémon Go Eevee evolution.

Once you have an Eevee, go to your Pokédex and tap on the Eevee that you wish to undergo a Pokémon Go Eevee evolution. Tap the “pencil” icon next to Eevee’s name to change it. From here, you’ll need to input a different name to get Espeon or Umbreon. For the former, you’ll want to change “Eevee” to “Sakura”, and for the latter you’ll need to put in “Tamao”.

Pokémon Go Eevee Evolution: When Will the Evolution Take Hold?

To ensure that you’ll get a Pokémon Go Eevee evolution, you’ll want to quit the game and restart the app. This will ensure that the name is registered on the game’s servers, and allow you to evolve your Eevee. Don’t forget that you’ll need to have some Eevee candy to help push through the Pokémon Go Eevee evolution. If you do, go ahead and evolve your Eevee and you’ll have yourself an Espeon or Umbreon to enjoy.
