Fortnite 5.40 Content Update Patch Notes: Suppressed Assault Rifle, Drum Gun Vaulted, and More

Epic Games has detailed the Fortnite 5.40 Content Update patch notes, while simultaneously rolling out the patch for users across all platforms to download and install. Whether you’re on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iPhone, or Android, you’ll be prompted to download the latest patch, giving you access to a bunch of new features. It’s not yet clear if the update requires any downtime. The latest improvements to the game include a new weapon, the suppressed assault rifle. This weapon rewards precision, allowing players to line up headshots without compromising their positions. Read on for the other Fortnite 5.40 Content Update patch notes highlights.

Fortnite 5.40 Content Update Patch Notes Highlights

As mentioned above, the Fortnite 5.40 Content Update introduces the suppressed assault rifle, which is a “silenced weapon that rewards precision aiming.” The suppressed assault rifle can be found in vending machines, floor loot, treasure chests, and supply drops. It’s available in Epic and Legendary variants, outputting 32 and 33 damage per shot respectively.

The infamous Fortnite drum gun has now been vaulted. I imagine Epic Games will tweak it a lot before releasing it back into the world!

Players will also see some changes to the Getaway limited time mode. The jewel will no longer appear in the inventory hotbar after being put in the downed state. Player models will no longer get stuck in the van after winning, nor fall the ground. It’s also now impossible for players to land on the van without building. Finally, the Enforcer skin has been fixed and shouldn’t distort.

The Fortnite 5.40 Content Update follows the 5.40.2 client update, which was implemented earlier to “fix a few issues.” Downtime was needed for that patch, lasting an hour in total.

For all of the other changes, which may be minor but are still appreciated, head on over to Epic Games’ official post here.
