Rocket League Servers Down: Are the Rocket League PS4 Servers Down?

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance that you’re here because there are Rocket League servers down. It appears as though, with the Rocket League Rocket Pass update due to go live, the Rocket League PS4 servers couldn’t handle the strain and they’ve collapsed upon themselves. Here’s what’s going on with the “Error while communicating with Rocket League servers” error, whether it’s affecting any other consoles or services, and if there’s anything you can do to fix it. Spoiler: I hope you have a good book to flick through.

Rocket League Servers Down: Are the Rocket League PS4 Servers Down?

Unfortunately, as of writing, they most certainly are. This will stick in the craw of many eager to try out Rocket Pass 1 but, as the Rocket League PS4 servers are down, there’s no way you can currently use the Rocket Pass, at least on PS4.

Reports are coming out of Reddit suggesting that the Xbox One version of the game is unaffected so, right now, the only Rocket League servers down are those on Sony’s side. The Nintendo Switch and PC versions are also currently working.

Rocket League Servers Down: Planned Maintenance

There is no planned maintenance, nor any rhyme or reason why the Rocket League servers would be down. It seems as if the stress of servers having a large group of gamers head into the game at a single time has proved too much.

For now, there is no fix to the Rocket League servers error message you’re currently being confronted with though, in future, it’s always wise to check official channels such as the Rocket League Twitter to ensure that there are no underlying issues or planned maintenance. In this instance, it appears to have been a case of server overload which, hopefully, will be rectified sooner rather than later.
