Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch Demo: Release Date, How to Download, Is There Multiplayer?

Like a bolt from the blue, the Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Nintendo Switch demo has been announced. It sounds like a beast of a preview and, better still, it’s out imminently. In fact, there’s so much to pore over we’re going to have to break it down into itty-bitty sections, lest you get gobbled up the gargantuan scale of the Switch re-release’s demo.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch Demo: Release Date

Surprise! The Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch demo (that sure is a mouthful, huh?) is out on the Nintendo eShop on August 16. That’s a whole two weeks before the game’s full-fat release on August 28, so it’s the perfect opportunity to get some practice in. Trust me, you’ll need it.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch Demo: How to Download

As soon as the demo goes live (check both @NintendoAmerica and @Monsterhunter for to-the-minute updates), simply head to the Nintendo eShop on either your Nintendo Switch console or the browser site, log in, and head to the storefront. Once there, a tile should be available magnifying the demo’s arrival in the store. If not, search for the game title and, after clicking on the game’s hub page, press the “Download demo” button.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch Demo: Is There Multiplayer?

While the game’s full release will include online multiplayer, this bespoke build, which doesn’t include content from the actual game but merely a recreation of it, will only include local multiplayer on the Nintendo Switch. Best whip those Joycons out.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch Demo: List of Monsters

There are three monsters included in the game for you to hunt. Each hunt will take up to 25 minutes to complete and are designed for different skill levels:

  • Great Maccao (Beginner)
  • Barrioth (Intermediate)
  • Valstrax (Expert)

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch Demo: Will My Progress Carry Over?

Nothing from the Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Switch demo will carry over. Everything that you see included in the demo is not actually in the full game proper, but merely a taste of things to come. You can, however, carry your save across from the 3DS version to the Nintendo Switch version from release day onwards.
