Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.23: Microtransactions, New Cars and More

Gran Turismo Sport has added what games like Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Middle Earth Shadow Of War removed: microtransactions. Polyphony Digital has released the Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.23 earlier today and it brings a lot of new content, as well as new GT Sport features and fixes. Having officially started the Gran Turismo Sport Championships in June, the developer has also revealed earlier this month that the game has achieved quite an extensive player base since it was originally released in October 2017.

Gran Turismo Sport Update 1.23: Microtransactions

One of the more surprising new features introduced in GT Sport Update 1.23 is the addition of microtransactions for the first time since launch. The “Brand Central” feature allows players to purchase certain cars (those that cost less than two million credits) using real money through the PlayStation Store. Purchased cars can then be viewed by heading to the “Purchased Content” section on the Brand Central main screen.

However, the best cars (those that cost more than two million credits) will still have to be earned through gameplay and progress in the game. Below is an example of a Mercedes-AMG GT S ’15 (which costs 184,000 credits in-game) being available for purchase at a price of only $0.99.

The GT Sport Update 1.23 has also added eight new cars into the racing simulation game. These include the Daihatsu Copen Active Top ‘02, Ferrari 250 GTO CN.3729GT ‘62, Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car, Honda Beat ‘91, Honda S660 ‘15, Mazda 787B ‘91, Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ 2017 and Mercedes-AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ (Color Variation) 2017. Additionally, six different layouts of the “Circuit de Sainte-Croix” track has been added, alongside new events in the Campaign Mode and more.
