A new Mario Tennis Aces patch is inbound. Nintendo’s latest serving will (finally) nerf Bowser Jr. That’s not all, however. Mario Tennis patch 1.1.2 offers a number of fixes throughout the game. There’s a fair number of changes coming with the 1.1.2 patch, which goes live tomorrow, July 19th. We’ve outlined the main changes below, with a list of the full patch notes given. Aren’t we lovely?
Mario Tennis Aces Patch 1.1.2: Bowser Jr. Ain’t the Boss no More
Up to this point, Bowser Jr. has been almost impossible to play against in Mario Tennis Aces. His long reach and fast movement provide for unfair match-ups across the board. The new Mario Tennis patch will nerf him to some extent. Nintendo has “adjusted how fast Bowser Jr. can move when charging a shot and lowered the angle at which he hits the ball back.” Hopefully this means that Bowser Jr. won’t own every single court from tomorrow. What’s good is that Nintendo isn’t done with nerfing Bowser Jr. They “plan to adjust the balance of [Bowser Jr.] further in time for the August tournament.”
Mario Tennis Aces Patch 1.1.2: Other Changes
Every character is changing from tomorrow. The “range within which a character is able to return a ball” has been reduced, as well as “how much energy is used when doing a Trick Shot to hit a ball that goes behind them,” which has gone up. Trick Shot Spamming is no longer a viable a tactic, it seems. “The distance you can move and the scope between left and right ” is now shorter. Although Nintendo has “shortened the time it takes to successfully recover energy,” the amount of “energy used when a Trick Shot is late” has increased.
