Old Fortnite Map: What Did the First Fortnite Map Look Like?

The old Fortnite map was a simple island, with very few points of interest. Honestly, it was pretty barren, with only a handful of built-up areas. Over time, the Battle Royale island has become home to more named places and unique locations for players to fight over. The island itself hasn’t gotten any larger, meaning players can still enjoy the fast gameplay that made it so popular in the first place. Instead, Epic Games has filled the blank spaces, and not only that, the devs have also introduced events that have led to the destruction of some areas. For example, meteorites that struck the island and totally transformed it.

The old Fortnite map can be seen above. You’ll notice very few named places when compared to the new map. There are a lot more empty spaces, too, which previously led to more downtime and less action as players traversed the old Fortnite map.

If you’re a new player, you might be surprised by the absence of Tilted Towers, which has been the most popular landing zone for many months now. Well, back at launch, Tilted Towers wasn’t an option!

Old Fortnite Map vs New Fortnite Map

Old Fortnite Map

When it comes to an old Fortnite map vs new Fortnite map showdown, things are pretty one-sided. Epic Games has made so many improvements to the Battle Royale island, adding new named places and transforming the map with various events, that it has risen to a whole other level.

With that said, you can probably tell that the island is getting a little crowded, and I have to wonder how the developers plan to keep adding fresh locations. Perhaps a new map is in the works, or maybe the devs have something else up their sleeves.
