Fortnite Pump Shotgun Buff

Fortnite Shotgun Nerf: What Did the New Update Do?

Epic Games has struck hard with the latest update, which included a Fortnite shotgun nerf. Both the pump shotgun and tactical shotgun were tweaked to be less powerful, which is a change that will no doubt rock the community. There are a lot of shotgun fans playing the game, and if that weapon class suddenly becomes a lot less deadly, then we’ll no doubt hear about it! Epic Games says that shotguns are being “used more often than [they’d] like,” and that they feel “shotguns are a little too strong in their current state.” Read on for the nerf details.

Fortnite Shotgun Nerf: Pump Shotgun Nerf

The first Fortnite shotgun nerf is the pump shotgun, which has had both its headshot multiplier decreased, and an overall damage reduction. (Brace yourself for this!) The pump shotgun nerf reduces the headshot multiplier from 2.5 to 2, and the overall damage has been dropped from 90/95 to 80/85.

What does all of this mean? Well, you’ll likely notice that enemies take an extra shot to down. This could lead to some gunfights that you lose, despite hitting shots that would have previously resulted in a kill.

Fortnite Shotgun Nerf: Tactical Shotgun Nerf

The second Fortnite shotgun nerf takes aim at the tactical shotgun, which has also had its headshot multiplier decreased from 2.5 to 2. Players who make an extra effort to aim for an enemy’s head won’t receive as big of a bonus.

If you’re disappointed by these Fortnite shotgun nerfs, it’s worth noting that Epic Games is looking at shotguns to make sure that “accuracy is more consistent” and that “odd behavior with the weapon is a top priority.” Players should expect more changes specific to shotguns in the near future. For now, try to adapt to these changes, or maybe move on to other powerful guns.
