Fortnite Blitz Showdown: What is Fortnite’s New Competitive Mode?

If you were busy mourning the death of Solo Showdown, the competitive element recently added to Fortnitethen worry no longer. Fortnite Blitz Showdown is here to satisfy all of your ranked gameplay needs, with faster, more frenetic gameplay, a big prize pot, and more changes than you might know what to do with. So, how do you get started, when does it all end, and how much could you end up winning? All that (and more) have been answered below.

Fortnite Blitz Showdown: What is the New Mode?

Fortnite Blitz Showdown, for all intents and purposes, is a streamlined version of Solo Showdown, the game’s first attempt at introducing competitive gameplay to the battle royale title.

A player must play 25 matches, which will then enter them into the prize pool for their region. Each win will give a player 100 points, second place 94 points, third place 91, and so on scaled down to 100th place. Additionally, each kill is worth 3 points, which will please the trigger-happy among you out there.

But why ‘Blitz’? Simply put, it’s a lot quicker than your average Fortnite mode. The storm circles close in far quicker (and do more damage), plus there is more loot, more weapons, and a shorter time to gather materials. You can see the full list of rules on the Epic site.

Fortnite Blitz Showdown: Solo Showdown Differences

Compared to Solo Showdown, Fortnite Blitz Showdown is essentially battle royale on fast-forward. The storm circles, as previously mentioned, close in far more quickly, with the speed of material-gathering also increased. The amount of games you have to play, too, leans on brevity: 25 games for Fortnite Blitz Showdown versus the 50. There is also not a worldwide prize pool, with prizes being given out per region this time. The regions are North America (NAE & NAW), Europe (EU), Asia (ASIA), Oceania (OCE), Brazil (BR).

Fortnite Blitz Showdown: Prizes

In each region, the prizes are as follows:

  • 1st Place: 20,000 V-bucks
  • 2nd – 5th Place: 13,500 V-Bucks
  • 6th – 100th Place: 7,500 V-bucks

Fortnite Blitz Showdown: End Date

Fortnite Blitz Showdown, much like its name hints at, isn’t around for long. In fact, you’ve only got the weekend to get things done as the competition closes on June 4 at 10am EST/3pm BST.
