Fortnite Chicken Dance Emote: Is It Worth the V-Bucks?

The Fortnite Chicken Dance emote is now available to purchase from the in-game store. It will only be available for a limited time, after which a new featured item will replace it. Though the Fortnite Chicken Dance emote will likely become available again, there’s no telling when that will be, so if you really want to get your hands on it, you had better splash those V-Bucks now.

Fortnite Chicken Dance Emote: What Is It?

The Fortnite Chicken Dance emote isn’t what it sounds like. It’s actually a reference to the TV Show Arrested Development, and is deliberately nothing like what a chicken dance should be. Those who don’t understand this reference may even think it a name error, but no, it’s just a simple nod to an American comedy.

Here’s the montage of Arrested Development chicken dance clips which were no doubt used for inspiration:

Fortnite Chicken Dance Emote: Is It Worth it?

The Fortnite Chicken Dance costs 500 V-Bucks. 500 V-Bucks costs roughly $5, which isn’t exactly cheap. Honestly, you’re going to fall into one of two camps with this one. You’re either a big Arrested Development fan who will probably feel the need to grab this, or you had no clue that this was an Arrested Development reference in the first place, and will therefore not be buying.

I’ve seen many Fortnite fans requesting emotes inspired by Arrested Development, so it’s nice to see that Epic Games is listening and eager to please. As a free-to-play game, having cool emotes and other cosmetic items is key to bringing that money in.

If you’re not a fan of the Fortnite Chicken Dance, it’s likely that something else will take its place soon. Stay tuned for that or, even better, request your own emote on social media or the game’s subreddit. Clearly the developers are listening!
