PUBG War Mode: How to Access Deathmatch With Respawns

PUBG War mode is apparently now a thing, despite no announcement or teases by PUBG Corp. This brand new mode has allowed PC players to create a deathmatch game type with respawns enabled. That’s right, you can now respawn in PUBG! Here’s what you need to know about PUBG War mode, and how to find a round of deathmatch.

PUBG War Mode: How to Access Deathmatch With Respawns

The PUBG War mode option is easily discovered if you play a lot of custom matches. When at the game’s main menu, players who hit “Play” and then “Custom Match” will see a list of available sessions. This is how you find custom matches with unique sets of rules. Sessions showing “WAR” under “Mode” will be using the new deathmatch ruleset, which by default allows for respawns.

This new PUBG War mode is fantastic for new players, as the respawn mechanic allows users to try out unfamiliar weapons and equipment. A match of PUBG can often be 95% running and looting, and 5% actually aiming and shooting at enemies, so this deathmatch game type is definitely welcome as a sort of unofficial tutorial.

Hopefully PUBG. Corp hasn’t released this early by accident, as I’m sure a lot of new players would love to play PUBG with respawns enabled. It would be a crime to remove it now. Without official confirmation and explicit direction towards the Custom Match sessions, most players won’t even know War mode exists.

PUBG is an incredibly intense game that is punishing to new players. While that’s part of the charm and creates one hell of an addiction, I think tutorials or a firing range would help a lot of players improve more quickly. I’m hoping War mode is the start of more accessible modes, as it’s something that PUBG and other battle royale games have pretty much ignored.
