Ni no Kuni 2 Block and Dodge Guide: How to Block and Dodge in Ni no Kuni 2

Coming off of the original game, the biggest difference in this sequel is the change from turn-based combat to real-time action gameplay. Because of this, it can be confusing to know how to block and dodge in Ni no Kuni 2. The game does try to explain some of its action combat systems, but it doesn’t do a great job of it.

This can cause confusion during battle as you can struggle with major enemies like bosses if you don’t know how to block or dodge in Ni no Kuni 2. Simply running around to escape an enemy isn’t enough, and you will find yourself taking damage a lot if you try to only do that.

Ni no Kuni 2 Block and Dodge Guide: How to Block and Dodge in Ni no Kuni 2

To know how to block and dodge in Ni no Kuni 2, it is actually pretty easy. Unfortunately, the controls for blocking and dodging are a little weird, so it can be hard to discover on your own, especially if you’re in the middle of battle. Here’s how you do both of them.

For learning how to block and dodge in Ni no Kuni 2, let’s first start with the basic block technique. By default on the controller, blocking can be done by holding down the L1 button. You will still take some damage while blocking, but it will keep you on your feet at least.

The second part of how to block and dodge in Ni no Kuni 2 is dodging. We think this is the better defensive option, as it gives you invulnerability during the dodge and helps you swiftly move out of the way of danger. To dodge, you must press L1 while moving the thumbstick in the desired direction.

You can even upgrade the time that you are invulnerable while dodging later on in the game. If you aren’t a fan of the how to block and dodge in Ni no Kuni 2 controls, you can thankfully change them in the options menu. Good luck!
