The latest addition to the Fortnite Battle Royale weapon roster is a hand cannon. Following the 3.0.0 update, the Fortnite hand cannon is now available in both Save the World and Battle Royale.
Despite the fact that it’s only recently been added to Battle Royale, players are already labeling the Fortnite hand cannon as overpowered.
Fortnite Hand Cannon: The New Fortnite Weapon
Epic Games hasn’t told us much about the new Fortnite weapon, only that “it’s big, it’s loud, and it packs a punch.” We also know that it fires Heavy ammo, is available in both Epic and Legendary rarities, and is found in Floor Loot, Treasure Chests, and Supply Drops.

Fortnite Hand Cannon: How Powerful Is the Fortnite Desert Eagle?
As for how damaging the Fortnite hand cannon is, the community is already calling the weapon overpowered. In this video by TERRAFEAR, you can see the epic variant kicking out a 78 shot to the body, followed by a 187 damage headshot!
As seen in this clip of Twitch streamer RickyPizzle, the legendary Fortnite hand cannon also damages the body by 78:
Fortnite Hand Cannon: Is the Fortnite Hand Cannon Overpowered?
With both Fortnite hand cannon variants kicking out 78 damage to the body, allowing for a 2-3 hit kill on full-heath enemies, I think a lot of players are going to be complaining about this weapon. What makes it even more infuriating, is that headshot damage. 187 damage for a headshot can put down most players, even with shields.
Note: Once the official Fortnite hand cannon weapon stats are published, I’ll update this post with the exact figures. Current stats are based on YouTube/Twitch gameplay footage.
