October 2018 Games, Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Release

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Release Date: Is it Coming to PC?

The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date is a huge question now that the game is out for PS4 and Xbox One. While recent years have been kinder to PC players when it comes to getting big name console releases, they often come late. One big question that players have had since Rockstar announced the game is if Red Dead 2 is coming to PC or not.

Red Dead Redemption 2 released on October 26, 2018, which is quite a delay from the Spring 2018 projection Rockstar released initially. Unfortunately, PC players won’t get much solace from this. See our thoughts on a potential PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC?

As we stated earlier, RDR2’s release date was October 26. However, it was only locked in for the console versions of the game, and Rockstar is still keeping mum about whether RDR2 will ever come to PC or not.

The first two games in the series Red Dead Revolver and Red Dead Redemption never made it to PC. Even though it has continued to be one of the most requested ports for PC, Rockstar has never shown any interest in bringing RDR to computers. However, that doesn’t mean RDR2 is never coming to PC.

The last game came out in 2010 on PS3 and Xbox One, and those system’s custom architectures were notorious for being hard to port to PC. The PS4 and Xbox One use the same x86-64 instruction sets as AMD and Intel PC processors, so bringing Red Dead Redemption 2 is a lot easier to port than its predecessor in theory.

GTAV took a year and a half to release for PC after its initial debut on PS3 and Xbox One. However, this could be because Rockstar was working on porting GTAV to PS4, Xbox One, and PC simultaneously. Without having to worry about bringing the game over from last-gen consoles Red Dead Redemption 2 might show up a lot sooner after its console release if it doesn’t come out at the same time that is.
