Sonic Mania Cheat Codes

Just like the original release, Sonic Mania features several cheat codes that allow you to make the game easier. These codes haven’t changed much since the early 90’s, but are just as cool.

There are two main ways to cheat in Sonic Mania. One is through a Debug Mode, and the other is through special cheat selections offered in Mania Mode. Here is what you need to know about them.

Sonic Mania Cheats

Go into Mania Mode and hover over but don’t select the ‘No Save’ icon. Press X (triangle on PS4, Y on Xbox) to activate a new menu. Your options are as follows:

  • & Knuckles Mode – Changes your companion.
  • Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine – A mini-game.
  • Insta-Shield – Improves your jump attack distance.
  • Super Peel Out – Significantly improves Sonic’s acceleration.

How to Enter Debug Mode

On the main menu hold B and Y (Switch) prior to Sonic appearing on the screen. Once the “Press any Button” text appears, simply press the + (Switch) button.

Note that the inputs for PS4 and Xbox One are unclear as we only have access to the Nintendo Switch version for now.
