GR Live! Is Valorant worth playing for CS:GO noobs?

GR Live! is Game Revolution’s live show broadcasting the latest video games. GR Live! host Mack Ashworth guides you through new releases every week, showcasing which games you should play… and which games you should avoid.

Valorant is out now, with Riot Games‘ FPS leaving beta and being available to download as a full release. Plenty of those already familiar with its CS:GO-esque gameplay are on board with the new game, but what about players who aren’t accustomed to it? Valorant can be daunting for newcomers, so Mack and Paul (a.k.a. me) decided to test it out in today’s GR Live!

So, how did we do? Pretty well, actually! So well that we gave Valorant four thumbs up (that’s two thumbs each, we’re not some sort of hybrid monster). If you want to see how some first-time Valorant players handle their debut — and watch as Mack somehow gets a team kill in his very first match — then check out the stream below:

What is Valorant?

“Valorant is your global competitive stage. It’s a 5v5 tac-shooter matchup to plant or defuse the Spike in a one-life-per-round, first to 13 series.

More than guns and bullets, you’ll choose an Agent armed with adaptive, swift, and lethal abilities that create opportunities to let your gunplay shine. Creativity is your greatest weapon.”
