Tell GR | What games are on your Christmas list?

It’s nearly Christmas, which means that those who celebrate the holiday are mostly busy gift-buying. However, while we should all be in the spirit of giving this time of year, it’s also fun to receive presents every now and again. So what games are topping your Christmas list this year?

We’ve left our own responses below but now we want to hear from you. Leave your replies in the comments section and we’ll feature our favorite in tomorrow’s Tell GR!

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “I’ll be getting an Oculus Quest. I love VR but its biggest stumbling block has always been convenience. There are so many wires that have to be plugged in and out of the PSVR that I always give up as soon as I think about playing it. With Oculus Quest I’ll be able to pretend I’m a Jedi in Vader Immortal without all those wires and I can’t wait.”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I actually can’t think of any games I’ll be picking up. I’ll probably assault some of this year’s backlog during the lull in big releases. I plan on tackling a run of Final Fantasy 7 at some point during the holidays, and I’m excited for MechWarrior 5. Other than those two I’ll just be playing whatever comes to mind.”

Michael Leri, features editor: “The holidays started yesterday when I bought Days Gone for $20. But that’s only the beginning. As a new Switch owner, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do for all the shameful years I abstained from getting the console. I’ve got my eyes set on Breath of the Wild, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Mario Maker 2, Lumines, and whatever else I can think of that I’ve missed out on.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “I’ve been eyeing up the Oculus Quest, but that might have to wait. My backlog is already chocker, so I don’t have any specific games on my list. Might hunt down a cheap yet cheerful monitor, as I’m in need of an upgrade there.”

Question: Are you hyped for Half-Life: Alyx?

Starling: “As big of a Half-life fanboy I am, I should be pretty mad that the next Half-life we get is yet another VR game because I can’t afford VR headsets and I’m not interested in getting one in the first place. But Half-life: Alyx looks so good I can’t be upset. I’ll let Valve have this one because it actually gives me hope they’ll eventually get Half-life 3 made.”
