October 2019 PS Plus and Xbox Games With Gold Predictions

With blockbuster games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Ghost Recon Breakpoint slated to release soon, it makes sense for Sony and Microsoft to participate in the excitement with their respective PS Plus and Games With Gold offerings. Now that each is nearly six years old, there are a ton of awesome titles ripe for choosing. Shooters, fighters, racers, and platformers are fair game and exclusive software could help remind users why they bought their console in the first place. The following are our October 2019 PS Plus and Games With Gold predictions.

October 2019 PS Plus and Xbox Games With Gold predictions | The big ones

October 2019 PS Plus

Titanfall 2 released on October 26, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Its appearance on either PS Plus or Games With Gold next month could serve as a great way of building up to Respawn’s next title, Stars Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which launches on November 15 for each platform. The sequel to the 2014 hit once again has players pilot mecha exoskeletons in a variety of well-designed maps and modes. Titanfall 2’s campaign is bound to please single-player aficionados, as it takes a lot of inspiration from buddy cop films and nicely punctuates its serious undertones with well-timed humor.

Battlefield 1 will celebrate its third anniversary next month, as it was released on October 21, 2016. Considering how it was featured on Games With Gold in November 2018, there’s a good chance for it to appear on PS Plus next month. The World War 1-centric shooter could benefit from a deluge of new players now that competitors like Call of Duty WW2 are on the market. EA could benefit as well, seeing how the game has four expansions available for purchase.

Soul Calibur 6’s player base could grow exponentially should it appear on PS Plus or Games With Gold, too. Though the fighting game only released a year ago on October 19, 2018, developer Bandai Namco may be willing to have it on either service now that plenty of DLC is available for it. Who can resist buying Nier: Automata’s 2B after discovering the addictive gameplay mechanics that this sequel has to offer?

In the racing department, it’s possible that Gran Turismo Sport and Forza Horizon 4 could appear on PS Plus and Games With Gold respectively next month, as the former released for PlayStation 4 on October 17, 2017 and the latter released for Xbox One on October 2, 2018. Each offers a ton of content for gear heads to drool over and plenty of DLC for Microsoft and Sony to reap a profit.

Mega Man 11 is another great contender, as it launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 2, 2018. The title’s presence on either service could serve as a nice throwback for gaming veterans and diversify the typical lineup of narrative-driven software and shooters that players are used to receiving.

There’s room for PlayStation 4 exclusives like Gravity Rush Remastered, Gravity Rush 2, Knack 2 and Killzone: Shadow Fall to show up on PS Plus, too. Likewise, Games With Gold could feature ReCoreGears of War: Ultimate Edition, or Gears of War 4.

October 2019 PS Plus and Xbox Games With Gold predictions | The indies

October 2019 PS Plus predictions

Swery65’s latest release, The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories, seems like the perfect indie to include on either PS Plus or Games With Gold next month. Aside from the fact that it launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 12, 2018, The Missing‘s shocking survival horror elements perfectly align with the season’s spooky nature. Younger audiences will get a kick out of the title, as it cleverly tells a coming of age story without being overly dramatic.

Yomawari: Night Alone shares in The Missing‘s macabre themes, as it has players dodge grotesque spirits while searching for a little girl and her cute dog. When the game originally released for PlayStation 4 on October 24, 2017, it introduced horror fans to its intense heartbeat system. One’s agitation grows whenever a ghost draws near and their movements become slower the more that their heartbeat rages on. The only way to evade spirits is to hide. Confronting any one of these foes directly will almost always lead to death. Night Alone‘s sequel, Midnight Shadows, or the entire Yomawari: The Long Night Collection could also appear on PS Plus this October.

Here’s hoping that October brings more treats than tricks this year. While Sony and Microsoft have certainly delivered on the software front this console generation, there’s room of each company’s services to improve. More benefits, including access to PlayStation Now for PS Plus subscribers and Xbox Games Pass for Games with Gold members, seems like a natural evolution. Fans will have to wait and see what the future holds, though there’s reason to be excited.
