Tell GR | What video games do you play with your significant other?

It’s Valentine’s Day, which means that many folks are winding down this evening to spend time with their nearest and dearest. While for many that will include a restaurant, movie, or *ahem* other activities, we’re a damn video game site so we’re going to remain firmly on-brand by sticking to polygons and pixels.

The GameRevolution editorial team discussed which games they like to play with their significant others below. As always, leave your own responses in the comments section, and we’ll feature our favorite in tomorrow’s Tell GR.

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: “My fiancée and I enjoy very different games. She’s into the seemingly endless RPGs that I find incredibly daunting and off-putting, while I enjoy fast-paced multiplayer games. As such, we don’t play a lot of games together, aside from party games like Gang Beasts and The Jackbox Party Pack when we have guests. We do, however, play tabletop games, particularly Machi Koro. Neither of us are good losers, though, so it’s far more competitive than a pleasant card game should be.”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “We both really like single-player games so we end up usually switching off. As far as multiplayer goes we’ve been playing Bishi Boshi Special lately, which is a game for PS1 that’s reminiscent of WarioWare.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “Jasmine is big into shooters and battle royale, which suits me just fine. We’ll also play anything with a decent multiplayer component, like the Far Cry games, and she’ll often watch me play some single-player games, like the terrifying Resident Evil 2.”

Bradley Russell, news editor: “I don’t. No wait, come back, I’m not a Valentine’s Scrooge! The extent of her gaming extends to LEGO Harry Potter and she’s just not all that into gaming. I’m not the type of person to push my interests on to someone and I’m sure she’d just as soon break up with me if she ever saw me rage at FIFA (see yesterday’s What Are You Playing? for more on that).”

Michael Leri, features editor: “My girlfriend doesn’t live that sweet gamer lifestyle but there is one game she’s always excited to play: Overcooked 2. Does she fumble with the ingredients and often make the wrong thing? Yes. Does she tend to fall off the platform? Yes. But despite the failures and Gordon Ramsay-esque freakouts, it’s always a blast to play with her and I’m glad I enjoy it just as much as she does.”
