Tell GR: Are You Excited For Fallout 76?

Fallout 76 releases this week. Bethesda’s multiplayer spin on the Fallout formula divided fans of the series when it was announced, and many still have reservations about it leading up to its launch. Its various betas have been met with a mixed reception, but many are still looking forward to a brand new Fallout game, even if it isn’t quite Fallout 5.

The GameRevolution editorial team has shared their thoughts on the matter, and you can share your own opinions in the comments section below. As always, we’ll feature our favorite.

Paul Tamburro, executive editor: Fallout 76 is a multiplayer Fallout game that a lot of people are going to try to play as a single-player game. For that reason, I think the general consensus is going to be massively divided on this one. I’m reasonably interested in it as it’s been a while since I’ve played an extensive co-op game, but I’m not expecting to be blown away.”

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: “I was until I saw the Rick and Morty stream and now I’m just more sad for it than anything.”

Mack Ashworth, lead editor: “I don’t think it’s possible to be hyped for Fallout 76. I’m a big fan of the franchise, but disastrous marketing fails combined with the shoddy beta experience has left me feeling nothing. Not to mention the amount of competition that the game is facing!”

Bradley Russell, sub-editor: Fallout 76 is being sent out to die, I’m sure of it. I can’t be excited about what looks to be a half-baked Fallout game with none of the things that make Fallout, Fallout. Where are the interesting NPCs? Where’s the loneliness? I’ll take a hard pass on this one until it comes down in price. Even then, I’ll play it out of morbid curiosity.”

Michael Russell, sub-editor: “To be honest, no, I’m not excited. I admire that this game looks like Bethesda is trying something new but the writing on the wall points to this being mediocre, at least for some time. The initially brazen attitude towards bugs and glitches manifested in the beta, which also pointed out to me how exhausted I am of open-world games right now. I’m open to this being a great game and I honestly hope it is, but Fallout 76 looks like it might be an actual wasteland. I guess that’s thematically appropriate.”

Question: What is the Best Game of the Last Decade?

Filipe Sultana: For me, Bloodborne. It changed completely my gaming habits. Before it, I always played on the medium difficulty (or easy if it was an RTS), my only interest was the story and situations the games put me in. Now if i’m not playing on the hardest difficulty (or something challenging) I feel like I’m not enjoying it to the fullest.
