Black Myth Wukong PS5 Disc Physical Release

Lack of a Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Disc Version Confuses Potential Buyers

With all the hype surrounding it, Black Myth: Wukong is attracting players by the droves. However, despite the game being a AAA-level release and a PlayStation console exclusive, potential buyers are shocked to find there’s no way to get a Black Myth: Wukong PS5 disc right now. Unfortunately, anyone looking to pick up a physical release of the game will find that isn’t an option. However, that might not be the case forever.

Black Myth: Wukong launches without a PS5 disc edition, but a later physical release is possible

According to developer Game Science, logistical challenges prevented it from releasing a Black Myth: Wukong PS5 disc alongside the digital launch. The FAQ on the official website says:

“It is the first time for Game Science to release a console game globally, and we are currently facing limitations in offline resources required for the import, export, transportation, distribution, and sales of physical discs. These factors have made it difficult for us to sell physical discs simultaneously with the official release of the game.

Our publishing team is actively working on resolving these issues and exploring options to offer physical discs.”

So, the studio hasn’t ruled out releasing physical copies of Black Myth: Wukong in the future.

For some players, the lack of a physical release is a dealbreaker. More and more gamers are becoming aware of the pitfalls of buying digital only, as evidenced by recent actions from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. Additionally, not everyone has reliable, quick, and unlimited internet to download a large game.

Collectors and enthusiasts value physical editions for their tangibility and resale potential. The desire for a disc version also stems from concerns over digital rights management and the long-term accessibility of purchased games. We’ll have to see if Game Science’s efforts to overcome these logistical hurdles can meet consumer demand.
