XDefiant server issues are plaguing the Ubisoft multiplayer free-to-play game. It’s a frequent problem, as players have reported that the servers are down or offline. There are several reasons why the XDefiant have gone down, and hopefully the developers are on the case to get them back up with some kind of patch or hotfix. {layers have reported being unable to find a game when attempting to search for match or the game straight up not loading or working. Why are there XDefiant server issues?
The usual cause for XDefiant server issues are due to scheduled maintenance, a new patch, or issues with launching new content. At the time of writing, on May 21, 2024 at around 11:00 to 12:00 AM PT, there have been launch problems with the game on all platforms, with the developers revealing that there are “aware that some players are unable to join a game.”
We recommend that you check the XDefiant Twitter page to see whether the XDefiant servers are back up or how long it will take for players to finally find a match through standard matchmaking. For this particular instance on May 21, given that it is launch day, the servers being down could be due to the large influx of players for the free-to-play arcade shooter.
Unfortunately, problems with the servers are expected at this point for a game in a genre like this on opening day. This is despite many months, if not years, of stress testing for the servers and other testing performed during the beta for the game.
We also suggest going to Ubisoft’s official support page for XDefiant. At the time of writing, the status and maintenance page states that they “are currently investigating an issue affecting our online services for the game.” They share that there are “problems with connecting to the servers, high latency and disconnections” and that their “teams are actively working on resolving the issue.” Unfortunately, the page doesn’t state any ETA on the issue as their investigations remain pending.
