Monopoly Go: What Happens To Extra Peg-E Chips, Treasure Hunt Pickaxes & Partner Tokens?

Having extra event currency in Monopoly Go is a common occurrence, so you may be wondering whether you should be saving it at all. But each mini-game handles excess chips, tokens, and pickaxes differently, depending on whether it’s the Peg-E Prize Drop, digging treasure hunt, and co-op partners event. Given the confusion, it’s understandable if you want to know what happens to any additional currency you get, especially if it turns into bonus dice rolls or cash. In fact, all three mini-games handle excess event currency differently. Here’s a rundown of what extra mini-game currency turns into in Monopoly Go for iOS and Android.

What happens to extra Peg-E chips in Monopoly Go?

Unfortunately, the extra Peg-E chips for Monopoly Go don’t turn into anything and are wiped out after the Prize Drop mini-game is over.

As such, we recommend that you use any extra Peg-E tokens that you’ve got before the mini-game finishes. Even if you have obtained every page of rewards for the mini-game, you might as well spend whatever leftover chips you’ve got getting more cash from a drop and some bonus dice rolls by hitting the appropriate 20 dice bumper for it. We’ve earned about an extra 500 dice rolls using up all of the excess Peg-E chips this way, but if you’re lucky, you can get more than that.

That said, if you’ve already gotten through the list of milestones for the Peg-E Prize Drop, it’s not worth trying too hard to get the Peg-E chips from the main event or tournament just to try and get the extra dice rolls. If you plan on getting through a banner anyway, your focus should be on getting the thousands of free dice rolls and the potential 5-star purple sticker packs instead. The extra Peg-E tokens just amount to some extra credit.

What happens to extra co-op partners tokens in Monopoly Go?

Any extra tokens for the co-op partners event for Monopoly Go are turned into cash. This applies to all tokens, regardless if they are wheels, hearts, puzzle pieces, flowers, etc.

On top of that, the bonus tokens here don’t turn into a lot of cash. Landing on a railroad with a x1000 High Roller multiplier, especially a Mega Heist, will earn you far much more money (and earn you event points that will get you partners tokens anyway).

Besides, cash is not that important in the long run for the game compared to dice rolls, with the exception of clearing boards so that you can earn some sticker packs and dice. But you need to get so much cash to finish boards that it’s not really worth the effort, especially if your net worth is over 20,000.

What happens to extra treasure hunt pickaxes for Monopoly Go?

Any extra treasure hunt pickaxes (or laser guns) for Monopoly Go turn into dice rolls at a rate of 1 token to 3 dice.

This isn’t a lot of dice of course, but any source of extra rolls is worth taking advantage of. As such, we recommend that you don’t finish the last puzzle of the digging mini-game until you’ve gotten as many pickaxe tokens as you can muster from milestones, Quick Wins, and free gifts in the store. Once that happens, you can finish the final puzzle to grab the grand prize for the treasure hunt and you can get 1000 dice or more from the extra token conversion.

Moreover, you can save quite a lot of pickaxes by using a sound strategy in how you choose spaces on the grid. Using process of elimination and going diagonally across the board are a few basic strategies to save pickaxes in general.
