Pre-Download Support for 3DS and Wii U Coming Soon

In an effort to make online purchases easier for consumers, Nintendo will soon allow 3DS and Wii U owners to pre-download games ahead of launch.

Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata announced the news during the company's latest investor briefing, noting that the first game to support this feature will be Super Smash Bros. for Wii U when it launches in Japan this December. Meanwhile, the feature won't be available to 3DS owners until 2015.

That wasn't the only bit of interesting news Nintendo dropped during its investor meeting, as the Big N also laid out its 2015 Wii U release plans and even shed some light on its "Quality of Life" platform.

Will you make use of the pre-download feature when it finally becomes available, or are you still tied to physical media and prefer going to the store to get an actual disc? Either way, weigh in with your purchasing preference in the comments below.
