The Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date is something fans are rightly worried about. The game’s PC release date has been settled for August 3, pushed up a month so that it doesn’t compete directly with Starfield. That said, the PS5 version of the game will not be spared the same fate and will be coming out on September 6, exactly when Starfield will release. Larian Studios has confirmed that an Xbox port of BG3 is in development. So here’s when Baldur’s Gate 3 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S.
What is the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date?
There is no confirmed Xbox release date for Baldur’s Gate 3, but we expect that it will release on Xbox Series X|S in 2024.
We hope that the game can release earlier in Winter 2023 after the PS5 version releases. Unfortunately, Larian Studios has not provided an official Xbox release date for the game at the time of this writing, because it is facing technical issues specifically when it comes to the Xbox Series S.
The developer admitted that they were having issues with getting split-screen co-op to work on Xbox Series S, in a statement to IGN. Microsoft requires games to release on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S with the same features. So Larian Studios will need to figure out how to get two-player co-op to work on Xbox Series S, or it will need to make the difficult decision to nix the feature altogether on Xbox.
Engineers from Xbox Advanced Technology Group, otherwise known as ATG, are bringing their expertise to help Larian Studio bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox Series S without having to sacrifice anything. Still, the way things have worked out, the PC and PS5 versions of the game will effectively be a timed exclusive.
