Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Weapon Durability

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Weapon Durability Confirmed in New Gameplay

It’s confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has weapon durability, meaning weapons can break after extensive use. Many wondered if this controversial gameplay mechanic would return in the new game and now we have confirmation.

Weapons can break in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The first confirmation of weapon durability appeared at 3:30 in the new gameplay demonstration embedded below.

In this example, the Tree Branch only withstands a few hits before becoming “badly damaged.” In BotW, Tree Branches were one of the weakest weapons in the game and broke in a similar number of hits. Actual weapons like swords and axes will likely last a lot longer.

It remains to be seen just how much of an impact weapon durability has on later-stage weapons. For example, BotW’s Master Sword had an interesting mechanic where it would lose charge and need to regenerate.

Following this gameplay showcase, many Zelda fans will undoubtedly be tempted to pre-order. One curious pre-order bonus includes a special Zelda spoon.

It will be interesting to see if the help for the new Zelda release will help it overcome the increased $70 price tag issued by Nintendo.
