Hogwarts Legacy How to Unlock Lockpicking

Hogwarts Legacy Unlock Lockpicking: How to Open Level 1 Lock Doors

You can pick locks in Hogwarts Legacy using the Alohomora spell. You’ll find many doors in the game are locked with a padlock. However, you won’t gain the ability to unlock them until you’re quite a ways into the game.

How to unlock Level 1 locks in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy open level one locks

You can unlock Level 1 locks in Hogwarts Legacy once you obtain the Alohomora spell. Once you have it, picking locks is easy. All you have to do is:

  • Interact with the door lock.
  • Use the left and right analog sticks to align the two lock dials correctly.
  • Hold the dials in place until the lock opens.

You won’t get a chance to learn Alohomora in Hogwarts Legacy until you’re around 8-10 hours into the game. At this point, you’ll have passed around a hundred locks, and you’re probably pretty eager to pick them.

Fortunately, the ability to pick locks is unlocked as part of the story in Hogwarts Legacy. In the main quest, “The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament,” the Hogwarts caretaker, Gladwin Moon, asks you to bust into a restricted area of the school to remove some Demiguise statues he believes were created to mock him.

After that quest, you can unlock level 1 locks. However, you’ll need to keep finding and removing statues around Hogwarts and the countryside before Moon will teach you the more powerful versions of Alohomora that can pick level 2 and 3 locks.

Now that you know how to pick locks, learn how to open the eye chests.
