Monster Hunter Rise Capture vs Kill

Monster Hunter Rise Capture vs. Kill: Which Is Better for Rewards?

Monster Hunter Rise tasks players to capture or kill monsters to earn various rewards. Some quests ask players to catch or kill one specifically, but what do you do when the rewards aren’t as clear-cut?

Should you capture or kill in Monster Hunter Rise?

Whether you capture or kill a monster, the amount of rewards you’ll earn is the same. However, factors like quests, specific rewards, and player resources can all play a part in your decision.

The first factor at play is your group. If members of your group have a specific reward in mind, you should follow their desires. Maybe they have a quest on the go or are looking for a particular reward. If it doesn’t matter to you, check with your group.

Check your Hunter’s Notes if nobody in your group has a preference. Rewards have different drop chances depending on whether the monster is captured or killed, so pick your preferred reward and go for the result that has the better drop chance.

In the slight chance that neither quests nor rewards are the deciding factors, consider the resources needed to capture or kill a monster. Capturing a monster is faster but requires traps and other tools, which aren’t needed to kill a monster. However, killing a monster increases the time when things can go wrong.
