Overwatch 2 Freezing Fix for Intel Core i3 and Dual Core CPUs

Overwatch 2 freezing errors have been plaguing the game since launch, let alone all the other problems with a missing shop, excessively long queue times, and faulty account merges. That’s just the tip of the iceberg really. While there are a lot of reasons behind Overwatch 2 crashing, Blizzard has recognized specific problems with computers that have Intel Core i3 or dual core CPUs. This is despite the fact that these Intel CPUs are supported and listed as the minimum requirements for playing the game.

Overwatch 2 freezing solutions and workarounds

Blizzard has identified that those trying to play Overwatch 2 using an Intel Core i3 have experienced crashes and black screens, forcing many players to shut down the client manually with no error being generated. Below is a list of possible solutions that may work for you. If you’re experiencing general crashing issues with the game, you can look at our guide here instead.

  1. Disable Dynamic Render Scale
  2. Use the lowest graphics setting while limiting the framerate to 30
  3. Head to the BIOS and turn off Hyperthreading (Note: This is the riskiest solution as it get impact other programs and processes, so only do this if absolutely necessary.)
  4. If these workarounds still don’t work for you, Blizzard recommends that you post information on your PC, or your DXDIAG, as a thread on the developer’s technical support forums.
