Video Games: The Movie Launches in July

Variance Films will launch Video Games: The Movie next month in a variety of formats, including on-demand and iTunes with select theater openings to spread the word.

Garden State's Zach Braff produced this documentary to bring the good word of video gaming to the masses, chronicling "the history and future of the culture and phenomenon of video games." The film attempts to gather the rapid growth of video gaming into an industry worth billions of dollars.

"Featuring in-depth interviews with the godfathers who started it all, the icons of game design, and the geek gurus who are leading us into the future, Video Games: The Movie is a celebration of gaming from Atari to Xbox, and an eye-opening look at what lies ahead."

Moviegoers in Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, California, North Carolina, Indiana, Florida, Louisiana, New York, Arizona, Massachusetts, Ontario, Washington, Mississippi, Colorado, Oregon, New Mexico, and Missouri can check this page on the film's website for detailed theater listings and dates.

Anyone thinking about seeing this on the big screen? It'll also be available on iTunes, but if you've got gamer friends it'd probably be a lot more fun to see in the theater.
