Will there be The Orville Season 4

Will The Orville Get a Season 4 or is it Canceled?

Fans are hoping that The Orville Season 4 is on its way. The third season concluded on a positive note, but there are still a ton of unresolved story threads. Unfortunately, despite its popularity, Fox and now Hulu don’t seem too keen on the series. Unfortunately, it might be a while before we know the show’s fate.

Will The Orville get a Season 4, or is it canceled?

The Orville Season 4 hasn’t been announced yet. However, it hasn’t been outright canceled, and the last episode was advertised as a season finale, not a series finale. At San Diego Comic-Con, series creator Seth MacFarlane stated that a fourth season of the show depends on how well it does on Disney+, which it’ll be moving to soon.

Unfortunately, there’s been no word about how well New Horizons has performed so far. A major gap between the second and third seasons killed some of the momentum the series had found in its second season. The three-year gap wasn’t detrimental to the quality of the writing and acting, though, and the third season has received critical acclaim.

One negative sign about the show’s future is the fact that the cast was released from their contracts in August 2021. That means that MacFarlane would have to either wait until everyone is available again or to cut characters, which would be heartbreaking to fans.

Alternatively, MacFarlane could soft reboot The Orville with the fourth season. A brief time skip could explain why some characters are missing, and some new ones could take their place.

Regardless, the fourth season would likely be centered around the conflict between the Planetary Union and the Moclan-Krill alliance. That situation was left unresolved, and with the end of the Keylon War, the two factions will likely come into conflict. We’d probably also see more of Mercer’s daughter.
