The Quarry Multiplayer Delayed

The Quarry Online Multiplayer Was Delayed Because of Ukraine War

Shortly before The Quarry was released, developer Supermassive Games delayed the online multiplayer modes until next month. The single-player and couch co-op modes were unaffected. At the time a reason for this wasn’t given apart from to “deliver the best possible experience for you”, but it turns out it was the Ukraine war that meant the server had to be moved.

The Quarry multiplayer modes were delayed until July 8 at the latest, and the game’s creative director Will Byles told IGN that this is still the release date the team is targeting. The reason for the delay was because the part of the Supermassive Games team responsible for the online multiplayer was based in Ukraine and had to move due to the Russian invasion. The server itself also had to be moved:

“So we had to move the server from Kyiv up into Warsaw and those guys had to get out there cause it was obviously really dangerous. It’s literally going to be a couple of weeks. It is actually done. It has to go through testing now.”

The online multiplayer mode will allow up to eight players to come together in a game, although the host will maintain control over the game and the remaining players will vote on the game’s choices. The Quarry movie mode, which changes the game into a movie where choices and combat play out depending on the ending the player chooses, was unaffected by the delay, and neither was the couch co-op multiplayer modes where each player controls different characters.

The delay did not affect The Quarry trophies either as none of them were tied to the online multiplayer modes. There is one for starting movie mode, but the rest are tied to decisions, actions, and collectibles that can all be earned while playing the campaign in single-player or local co-op.

In other news, rumors claim a new completely finished Fire Emblem game was due to be released a couple of years ago but should now be at the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Elsewhere, rumors of an Assassin’s Creed remaster have started following the franchise’s 15th anniversary stream.
