Players exploring the capital region in Elden Ring might stumble upon the location of the Divine Tower of West Altus. However, without meeting a prerequisite, the door to the tower will be locked, barring access. Since there’s no information on what players need to do to enter it, many will find themselves stumped on how to unlock the door.
How to unlock the Divine Tower of West Altus door in Elden Ring
To unlock the door at the Divine Tower of West Altus in Elden Ring, players must defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, and obtain his great rune. Once players have Rykard’s Great Rune, they can open the door to the tower and proceed to the top to power it up.
However, given the game’s open nature, some players might find Rykard’s Great Rune before they ever visit the Divine Tower of West Altus. If that’s the case, we’ve got directions to its location.
To get to the tower, players need to head to the west side of the capital outskirts and descend into the moat. In the southwest corner of the moat, players will find the Sealed Tunnel. It’s not too tough of an area to make it through. There’s a series of false walls that players must make their way through, but it’s a relatively short journey. The boss is an Onyx Lord, which is just a stronger version of the enemy many players will have already faced in Raya Lucaria Academy. It’s not too tough as long as players keep healed up.
Once players take down the boss in the Sealed Tunnel, they can head out the south passage to find the Divine Tower of West Altus. Players can activate a nearby Site of Grace to facilitate a quick return. Thankfully, its layout is the same as the Divine Tower of Limgrave, so players don’t have to worry about any surprises when entering.
