Elden Ring 'Frame Rate Unsuitable For Online Play' Error Fix

How To Fix Elden Ring ‘Frame Rate Unsuitable For Online Play’ Error

When it’s running smoothly, Elden Ring is undoubtedly one of the best games of the year. However, when it’s stuttering it can be one of the worst experiences around. Not only is it difficult to play, but the game will actually prevent players from enjoying online play if the frame rate is too low or unstable. Thankfully, there’s a workaround. Here’s how to fix the Elden Ring “Frame rate unsuitable for online player” error on PC.

To fix the Elden Ring “Frame rate unsuitable for online play” error, players must:

  1. Fully quit out of the game.
  2. Go to your Graphics Settings within Windows 10 or 11.
  3. Underneath “Graphics performance preference” set it to “Desktop app.”
  4. Click “Browser” and select the Elden Ring install.
  5. Then set the option to “High Performance.”

This fix was discovered by Phish777 on Reddit and we can confirm that it has led to a performance improvement. The “Frame rate unsuitable for online play” no longer appears after this fix has been implemented.

To further improve the Elden Ring frame rate on PC, players should install the latest graphics card drivers, lower graphics settings, and ensure no processing-intensive programs are running alongside the game. These are common fixes for improving low performance in PC games and they also apply to Elden Ring.

Hopefully developer FromSoftware will roll out performance improvements soon, so that PC players don’t have to go out of their way to find workarounds. Until then, this fix should help.
