Street Fighter 6 Logo Criticized for Being the Same as $80 Adobe Stock Photo

The Street Fighter 6 logo has been roundly criticized by fans of the series, with it being a dramatic departure from the series’ style established way back in 1987. While the logo has received some tweaks since the ’80s, it has largely remained the same, though Capcom has decided to mix things up in a way that fans aren’t too happy with. These criticisms haven’t exactly slowed down since its similarities to an Adobe stock image were revealed.

Street Fighter 6 logo’s design slammed by fans

Street Fighter 6’s logo was debuted alongside a new teaser trailer, showing off what appears to be changes to the series’ 3D art style established in Street Fighter 4. However, the most glaring change was reserved for the logo, an incredibly simplistic ‘SF’ that fans have discovered is incredibly similar to an $80 stock image on the Adobe Stock store.

Ars Technica director @Aurich spotted the similarities to the stock photo, with the find promptly shared across social media. The stock image can be simply found by searching ‘SF’ on the Adobe Stock site.

Not only that, but the minor changes Capcom has made to the above stock image such as changing the angle of the ‘F’ were already employed by a French sci-fi convention, with its own tweaks to this design — established long before Street Fighter 6’s reveal — being more-or-less the same as Capcom’s own take on the stock image.

It’s not uncommon for graphic design teams to make use of stock images for their work, but the entirety of Street Fighter 6’s logo being so similar to the stock images has set off alarm bells for fans. Capcom could decide to change the logo following this controversy, but for the time being this is what the series is stuck with.
