Is there a Rainbow Six Extraction Steam release date? The latest game in the venerable but still popular Rainbow Six series, previously known as Rainbow Six Quarantine, is out tomorrow for all platforms, including PC, but does the Rainbow Six Extraction PC release equate to a Steam release too, just like Siege has? Will Rainbow Six Extraction come to Steam or is it exclusive to Epic Games Store? Here’s the need-to-know info.
What is the Rainbow Six Extraction Steam release date?
If Rainbow Six Extraction comes to Steam it won’t be until January 2023. However, there is the real possibility Ubisoft won’t release it on Steam at all.
While Extraction’s popular forerunner Rainbow Six Siege is on Steam and is doing very well there, Ubisoft has an exclusivity deal with Epic Games Store that has meant that multiple games from the publisher — such as The Division 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which like Rainbow Six are also both Tom Clancy online games — have stayed off of Steam with no sign of them coming to Valve’s platform.
However, in Rainbow Six Extraction’s case, it’s even more frustrating, as the co-op game is available on PC via:
- Epic Games Store
- Ubisoft Connect/Uplay
- PC Game Pass
Therefore, it seems odd that Extraction isn’t on Steam as well, given that it’s also available on Microsoft’s Game Pass and Microsoft tends to have a very good relationship with Steam. Last month’s Halo Infinite, for example, was available on both Game Pass and Steam, and the Steam version didn’t have as many problems either. It’s entirely possible that Extraction could come to Steam, but if it does, it’s unlikely to be within the next year.
It took a long time and a name change for Rainbow Six Extraction to get here but it’ll finally be out tomorrow. Don’t expect to be taking on other players, however, as it’s been previously confirmed that — unlike Siege — the game is entirely co-op PvE focused and does not have a PvP mode.
