It seems like the Gotham Knights characters will be making the leap to live-action, as the CW has announced that a new TV series based on the property is in the works from the producers of Batwoman and Gotham. The Gotham Knights TV show is supposed to be based more on the comic books than the upcoming game and may not even be connected to Batwoman or the current Arrowverse.
What Gotham Knights characters will be in the CW show?
According to Variety, the Gotham Knights live-action TV series will feature Bruce Wayne’s “rebellious adopted son” who “forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies.” While no specific characters have been named for the series yet, this description gives fans a little to go on. “Adopted” rules out Batman’s actual son Damien Wayne, so that suggests either Nightwing/Dick Grayson — unlikely, given he’s leading HBO Max’s Titans — or Red Hood/Jason Todd.
As for “the children of Gotham’s enemies,” Batwoman has already introduced The Riddler’s daughter Enigma, Two-Face’s daughter Duela Dent, and Cluemaster’s daughter Stephanie Brown/Spoiler, all of which have been missing since Season 2. Given Stephanie Brown becomes the hero Spoiler and has even temporarily been both Batgirl and Robin in the comics, she would make an ideal fit for the show.
As for the show itself, the story is similar to the Gotham Knights game in that it involves the death of Batman/Bruce Wayne and a new group of misfits and outcasts rising to protect Gotham. James Stoteraux and Chad Fiveash are executive producers on the show and they have previously produced Batwoman, Gotham, and Krypton. Gotham Knights will be unconnected to Batwoman, the Arrowverse, and the Gotham Knights game, apparently, and no date has been set for it to start yet.
As for Gotham Knights the game, fans are hoping to see it in early 2022.
