Star Wars Eclipse got a reveal at The Game Awards 2021, and fans are already speculating on where it’ll fit in the Star Wars timeline. Of course, it’s always a gamble on what time a new piece of media will be set in with so many eras. So, where are we headed this time? Will we visit the Old Republic, New Republic, prequel trilogy, original trilogy, or sequel trilogy? Read on below to find out.
What timeline era is Star Wars Eclipse set in?
Star Wars Eclipse takes place during the High Republic period on the timeline. Multiple pieces of media are slated to take place during this era that spanned around two hundred years between 300 years before the battle of Yavin (BBY) and 82 BBY.
The High Republic Era was a golden age for the Galactic Republic, during which the Jedi were active, and the frontiers of the galaxy were pushed back. Of course, things weren’t perfect, and the forces that would cause the downfall of the Old Republic were already putting their machinations into place.
We don’t know what type of game Star Wars Eclipse will be, though being from Quantic Dream, we’d assume it’ll fall under the adventure genre. We also don’t know where and when the game is set in the High Republic Era. A wide variety of environments is shown, with a particular emphasis on Trade Federation ships. It’s possible that we may learn more about the Trade Federation before it became the core of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
In any case, it’s great to get some Star Wars games from other developers. EA held the exclusive rights to the license for years, and we’re happy to see some other spins on the universe. We enjoyed Detroit: Become Human, so we have high hopes for Quantic Dreams’ next game.
