The legendary (exotic) Gjallarhorn is finally coming to Destiny 2, and everyone will get a chance to get their hands on the weapon that ruled the original Destiny’s meta for so long. This fan-favorite rocket launcher has been one of the most requested weapons since Destiny 2 launched, and despite rumors that it’d be coming back it’s not until year five that we’re finally going to see its return. However, there’ll still be a bit of a wait before Gjallarhorn is added to the Destiny 2 arsenal.
How to get Gjallarhorn in Destiny 2
Players will be able to get Gjallarhorn with the purchase of the Destiny 2: Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack. This DLC will launch in December, and with it will come a dungeon set in the Loot Cave in the Cosmodrome. Those who are able to conquer this three-person dungeon will get a chance to obtain the exotic weapon.
Those that played the original Destiny likely remember how large of a role Gjallarhorn played in the early meta. Many LFG posts during the latter half of Destiny Year 1 had the requirement that players have this weapon.
In the original Destiny, Gjallarhorn is a solar rocket launcher with Wolfpack Rounds, which split into tracking cluster missiles upon detonation. This is an immensely powerful perk that made it incredibly overpowered in PVE activities.
Of course, there’s no guarantee that Gjarllarhorn will be unlocked in Destiny 2 with the same unique perks. It could be completely reworked, especially since Bungie is known for raining on the fanbase’s parade more than once. Thankfully, players can now obtain Gjallarhorn without having to worry about it getting randomly sunsetted.
Following the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack will be the release of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen on February 22, 2021. We got a chance to learn a lot more about the expansion through a leak and a presentation from Bungie today.
