Pokemon Unite will inevitably see new Pokemon release as upcoming DLC, with the game’s already quite sizeable roster only set to receive more characters as it grows. We know which new Pokemon are set to be added to the game, so when will they be released?
When do new Pokemon release in Unite?
New Pokemon Unite additions Blastoise and Gardevoir are confirmed to be added in the near future, with the water and grass-type also set to be joined by a third mystery Pokemon. They are likely set to be added sooner rather than later, potentially after August 3, 2021, which is when its 14 days of welcome gifts conclude.
The new Pokemon Unite characters were revealed prior to the game’s launch, with the game’s official Twitter account noting that while they weren’t “battle-ready,” the trio was “coming soon.”

Blastoise is a no-brainer considering both original starter Pokemon Charizard and Venasaur are already in the game, with Gardevoir being another fan-favorite. Blastoise will be a defence character while Gardevoir is an attacker — given the game currently suffers from a lack of players choosing defensive types, Blastoise’s addition could help incentivize though who predominantly want to play damage-dealing Pokemon.
The third mystery Pokemon is unconfirmed, though Unite’s official Twitter urged players to stay tuned to its social account to find out what this addition will be. Unite has a diverse roster of both iconic and lesser-known Pokemon, with Pikachu sitting alongside the likes of Cramorant. Co-developers TiMi Studio Group and The Pokemon Company have focused on Pokemon that work well in the MOBA setting rather than specifically including the most well-known characters, so the mystery Pokemon could really be anyone from the series’ back catalogue.
