Cyberpunk 2077 refunds

CDPR offers Cyberpunk 2077 refunds to angry fans

After numerous delays, CD Projekt RED’s highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 finally launched to a mixed reception last week. The PC version has its share of bugs, but, at times, the console versions are borderline unplayable. Due to the major issues hampering base PS4 and Xbox One systems, CDPR is now offering Cyberpunk 2077 refunds to disappointed console users.

How to get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077

Breaking silence to address the buggy state of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch, CDPR issued a statement apologizing for its lack of transparency ahead of the game’s release. CD Projekt acknowledged that withholding coverage of the last-gen versions didn’t allow consumers to make an “informed decision” about their purchase. In an effort to make that right, the developer is offering refunds to any console users that don’t want to wait for the upcoming performance patches.

To get a refund for Cyberpunk 2077, digital purchasers on PS4 must contact PlayStation Support. Digital owners on Xbox One, meanwhile, must contact Xbox Support. Those that own a physical copy of Cyberpunk 2077 should first contact the store they purchased it from.  If it isn’t possible to secure a refund directly from the store, send an email to helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com before December 21, 2020.

CDPR will “do [its] best to help” customers that reach out to the helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com email address, though it isn’t clear if submitting a request before the December 21 deadline guarantees a refund.

Despite vowing to return angry consumers’ money, ideally, the developer would “appreciate” a chance to put the situation right. CD Projekt has outlined plans for frequent Cyberpunk 2077 console hotfixes, alongside two larger patches. Patch #1 is expected in January and Patch #2 in February, which together should “fix the most prominent problems” with the game. Last-gen console owners shouldn’t expect miracles, however, as these won’t bring the game in line with the PC and next-gen versions.
